OBSERVATION

Observe your thoughts but don’t go anywhere with them. In other words don’t jump to a conclusion too soon.

There is a 5,000 word explanation for the power of observation but the basics are to understand what our first is and what our second thought is. Our first thought is intuition and our second thought is originated from our ego. There still is a problem as our ego demands you to believe that the second thought is in fact your first.

Your first thought is an immediate flash of knowledge that arises; sometimes without you taking much notice. Do nothing but be aware that this is how it works.

QUOTE: “Seek not that the things which happen should happen as you wish, but wish the things that happen to be as they are, and you will have a tranquil flow of life.” (Epictetus)

Nature has a habit of lifting our spirits - never, never underestimate this potential! Have you ever spoke to an animal of your problems? You’ll never get advice, but you’ll get a listening ear. Why does food and drink taste so good when you’re sat by the beach? Yet strangely the same food at home never realises the same potential for happiness.

Write down during any normal day events that trigger a happy feeling. Then when that day turns sour you can look back at your journal and know what action to take that can bring back that happy feeling. It maybe that cooking or listening to the radio is good, or looking out of a specific window. You’ll only really know by keeping a good journal.

CENTRE YOURSELF

Although Meditation, Yoga, Chi Kung and Aerobics for example are good tools for restfulness, they may not be right for you. One specific option for restfulness is appreciating the value of giving full attention. When you only give half attention, your other half is drifting off trying to solve some problem or drift off into a dream of fantasy.

Try using full attention as thus… Opt for some mundane job such as cleaning a brass handle on the door. Don’t put a time limit on the job as that will affect the whole task. Feel the cloth and the texture, listen to the glug of the fluid as it drips onto the cloth. Feel the dampness of the cloth with your finger as you apply the solution to the brass. Watch carefully as you press and apply the right pressure to rid the brass of the grime. Listen for the squeak as the grime disappears and the true colour emerges. Clean with precision and don’t leave any grime left on the door handle.

This whole process may have taken 30 minutes, the completed job is perfection personified. It would have been restful. The importance of centering yourself as thus is that your mind is given to one job and one job only. It is a connection that will take away sorrow and sadness until that full attention is lost.

Be aware also that the moment you leave the beauty of full attention the answer to any problems may arise. It is said that your mind is allowed to resolve the problems of your life if you give a particular task your full attention; anything less than full attention and your mind is being actively used to follow some day dream or other.

LISTEN AND LEARN

Listen to your teacher! Who is your teacher? It could be the next person you meet. Everyone has the potential to be your teacher.

Being happy allows you to SEE. Being negative will not allow you to see anything; it is as if you’re wearing blinkers.

MAKE OPPORTUNITIES

Your first discipline in reading this book is to ‘make opportunities’. How do you do this?

Be happy… Happiness is the breading ground for opportunity; you’ll never get inspired by being sad or angry.

Call this discipline ‘reading time’ and allow 15 minutes to 30 minutes each day in doing this. Read something that is motivational. This in itself helps to trigger a happy feeling.

CAUSE and EFFECT - We all are probably aware of this psychological description. If your next action is the ‘effect’ then the cause is your decision to do it. For happiness you must first have the decision to be happy.

REASON

Generally we can identify why we are happy; this is because there was a reason. In deciding there was a reason we processed an analysis of the situation. Avoid such analysis, why not be happy for NO REASON?

INNER CONFLICT

The tasks that need the most effort are often those that present us with the greatest problems. Perhaps we strive for success with more ‘brawn than brains’ and forget our intended goal has an hidden agenda or conflict preventing the job’s completion.

Strange as it may seem some people wallow in struggling! Others perhaps enjoy the struggle as they know it leads to greater prospects. Which are you?

QUOTE: “The moment you make anything into a ‘problem’, you define yourself as a victim.” (Robert Holden)

Inner conflict is a problem that we shouldn’t ignore; although in wisdom we are best submitting the problem to our subconscious to resolve, which is not too dissimilar to ignoring it. If we cannot resolve it with rational thinking then a good practice is to allow our higher mind to present the resolution.

Inner conflict is a barrier and little else will get resolved when a major battle is taking place within our mind. We must first accept that an inner conflict exists and then proceed with a practice that we know will complete the task. However as mentioned in the last paragraph, to TRUST in our higher mind cum sub-conscious mind is a good alternative to consider.

STUCK IN A RUT?

Fear, self-doubt, self-criticism and self-sabotage; all observations of a person who says they are ’stuck in a rut’, but is this a true state of affairs? Well of course it is! That’s why this person is in a rut.

What appears to happen in an attempt to resolve this situation is that they try and put right what has gone wrong. But you can’t change history!

Let’s assume for illustration purposes a boy has fallen out with his girlfriend. What tends to happen is that he wants to go back and justify his actions that lead to the break up of the relationship. He needs to deal with the past problem in the NOW. The best possible solution is to say you’re SORRY.

We don’t want to spend weeks and weeks trying to put right something that’s happened in the past, we need to act in the NOW in a positive way which makes a promise for a brighter future.

Being ’stuck in a rut’ is not so much a troubled past but being afraid of moving on. This fear is because you’re trying to put right those actions in the past. Your next ten minutes on this planet are the result of what action you take NOW.

THE MIRROR EFFECT

The principle we call the ‘mirror effect’ has several permutations, one of which is; ‘you only get out of life what you put in’. The simplicity but immense power this principle has, will consistently impress you.

Imagine this scenario… It is 9am one evening and you realize you’ll need some milk and bread for breakfast. The decision is to visit your local late opening supermarket. You quickly glance in the mirror and say, “It’ll have to do!” You rush off to the supermarket and the odds are that you’ll not talk to anyone other than the person at the till and that would only be a grunted, “Thanks.” This is the mirror effect - if you look unapproachable, nobody will approach you.

Check the mirror before you leave the house; and smile! That image will be left as a vision of yourself and subsequently what others see of you.

Know All About the History of Tatuaggi Maori or Maori Tattoo

Author: Amy Johns  |  Category: history of beauty

Polynesia is a general term which meant many islands with its present day geographical territory at the triangular corners of Hawaii, New Zealand and the Eastern Island. It has a clear division among itself and comprises of east and west Polynesia with Cook Island and the Tahiti being the primary ones. The cultural aspect which dominated the Polynesian people was body art or decoration.

This practice of body art among the Polynesian people slowly spread among the European sailors before creating a major impact on the western society in the form of tattoo. Tattoo is a permanent ink marking into the skin layers which changes the pigmentation and it’s done mostly for decorative reasons. Although tattooing has faced much taboo but it still continues to be a globally acclaimed popular art. Tattoos have served several purposes like status symbol or rank of an individual, symbols of spiritual and religious devotion, talismans or as a mark of an outcast, slaves or convicts. Nowadays tattoos are mostly used for cosmetic reasons or for showing some kind of emotional or remembrance gesture. The dyes and pigments used for tattooing are materials like titanium di oxide and iron oxide or for that matter even carbon black, azo dyes, acridine or even quinoline.

Tattoos are often grouped by the theme, the most prevalent among them being alien, ambigram, anchor, extreme, Maori, tribal or flash tattoos. However there are others like Aztec, kanji, eye and gargoyle. Using a paper or cardboard for imprinting or drawing a design is the sole theme of tattoo flash and it may be regarded as a species of industrial design. Tattoo parlours often sport them on the walls or on the entrance gateway giving the prospective customers a vivid idea of the tattoos. Mostly found on an 11*14 inch print, it may or may not come with an outline. Some common flash symbols are anchor, Bettie page which is a symbol of beauty, barbed wire, heart, dragon or the carp fish which appears in traditional Chinese or Japanese legends and stories. Maoris are the original inhabitants of New Zealand and with them comes the word Maori tattoo which has withstood not only time but also colonization by the Europeans. These Maori tattoos or tatuaggi maori were a symbol of genealogy, tribal history and often marks of beauty or ferocity. Sometimes called Ta Moko it was mostly a facial form of tattoo though the global surge in the tattoo industry and the urge to be fashionable has made people wear them on all parts of the body. It wasn’t merely worn by the person in the ink form but predominantly the skin was chiseled for this purpose. Old tribes like the Celtic, Haida and the tribe of Borneo practiced this form of tribal tattoo or tatuaggi tribali. New tribalism is the remnants of the glorious past which has been traced back to the Bronze Age. They mainly demonstrate pieces of art form from native and indigenous tribe with an inclination towards personal or religious convictions. For its unique look tribal tattoo has become one of the most popular designs with celebrities like Mike Tyson, Sandra Bullock and Dwayne Johnson donning them.

This once dying art of the Polynesians have now become a fashion statement and many style icons are hugely acknowledged due to the bold and beautiful tattoo they wear on them differentiating them from the rest.

Faith and Life

Author: Amy Johns  |  Category: beauty in trouble

Faith plays an important role in the life of humans. First of all it is necessary to understand the concept of faith and how it is interpreted by different people. According to the dictionary explanation faith is a confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing; it is a belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. It could be loyalty to a person or thing or a commitment to something or someone. However primary meaning of faith came to us from Christianity and is defined as theological virtue and a secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God’s will, it is a set of principles or beliefs associated with religious issues. One has to understand though that faith and religion are different things, although closely interrelated especially in a modern world.

The word faith mainly originated in Biblical times and is the ultimate source of understanding of the issue of faith. It is important to understand why it has been an essential part of people’s life for centuries and continues to be that, in order to grasp the meaning of faith and its magnetic power of attracting so many people all over the world. Faith is not merely adopting a set of beliefs that a person finds in religious books, but it is rather a way of life or adherence to that which leads to life. Faith however is not only a mental state of “believing” the holder of faith has to have relationships with God, truly love him and adapt his/her life to the ways of God. Many questions rise when we speak of faith and its meaning, for instance why should a person believe in eternity and in life after death if one does not prepare for it by repentance, spiritual vigil, and loving God? What good does this fake faith do in such person’s life? Also what benefit does believing in virtues bring if one does not live them and truly experience? Thus it becomes clear that there is a huge gap between theoretical faith which does not save the soul, and practical faith, the results of which are evident in one’s life.

In Matthew 7:16 it is written “You will know them by their fruits”, this sentence explains the whole notion of having faith. If a person does really have faith in the heart this faith will be producing visible results in persons life, although they may not be as evident to the outside world, the individual will feel the difference. The life of faith is linked with peace, tranquility and lack or absence of fear, for when the believer, thus the holder of faith, begins to fear he will sense the presence of God. For such people, whose hearts are occupied with God there is no place for trouble, they are usually very optimistic and have a greater sense of life then their surroundings. Those people are typically more joyful and people loving, they accept all the things life prepares for them in a more tolerant way. Faith gives them such power and motivation to overcome their difficulties that they can see more beauty in every day routine, which is sometimes very hard for ordinary people. Often life of a person of faith is also related with purity of behavior, because the believer feels the presence of God, who sees, hears and records all that he does. For this very reason the believer feels ashamed and afraid of wrong doing in front of God who is omnipresent. Having faith makes us submit to God’s will and become calmer if something goes not according to our plan. If we have faith we know, that there is a reason for everything and this very reason keeps us from something bad. Accepting life in such a way gives us more satisfaction and pure happiness with what life and God has granted us.

“Faith is not what is seen by the human eye” (2 Cor. 5:7), which is true for the human senses that can only detect a physical object or movement; faith in this instance is almost invisible. I wrote almost because, for a true believer faith is a way of life, thus he knows exactly what faith means to him. The intellectual capabilities may easily lead a human to the beginning of the road on which one finds happiness, but it can never continue on to the end of the way. The mind cannot comprehend God mainly because it has definite limits on the other hand God has no limits. Besides God has numerous qualities and can come in life of a person in different forms, and creatures; people often do not recognize God’s presence if they only concentrate on the power of mind in comprehending all things. Again we turn to the subject of necessity to have faith, so that to accept things without fully understanding the origin of them or the meaning of them. Taking for instance a microwave, which works on the principle rarely recognized by people using it, however this still does let them use it every day. They accept that there is a microwave and it is a convenient device for heating food. The same situation occurs when miracles happen. People do not even get close to comprehending their true nature. But the mind accepts it happening with faith, with its infinite power, greater than that of the mind, which can perform things the mind fails to understand. Most of people agree and believe that this power comes from God, that’s the ultimate source of their faith.

The most vivid example of faith is brought to us by children. They are more open- minded and happy than adults are. They are able to see the genuine beauty around them and capture the essence of all things, although they might not know how to explain them. Children do not carry negative emotional baggage, unless they have some psychological problems, like most of adults do. This very feature makes kids peace loving and world accepting, they believe that things as they are, are just perfect. This is the precious attribute that many adults lack and thus suffer immensely in their lives. They get too preoccupied with all possible problems in the world and forget to relax for a minute in order to feel life and all the virtues it has to offer.

Those who forget God or simply people without faith in their hearts are lost in this life, or in any other life they will obtain. The Bible says “People who seek God, find God” (Matthew 7:7-8). I believe that this search can only be successful if a person honestly has faith not originated from mental activities but from the deepest corner of the heart. The one, who is looking for God, will find Him as God is the ultimate reward in people’s life. It follows that they believe in God being the source of good and protection, otherwise why should conduct such a search? For humans, though, faith in God is still something that has to be connected with the earthly matters. With faith people receive a sense of hope, which is what so pleasing for humans. Having hope for a better future, for a long life and other virtues life has in store for them is a motivator and a reason for faith. It is often viewed as a psychological necessity, a need to feel that you are protected and cared for by someone who is more superior and all mighty. Although such concerns cause people to turn their faces to God, there are other issues that make people live a righteous life with faith in heart.

One of the major anxieties of modern humans is the need to find their self identity, to discover their true nature. The Bible says that God has created people on his own image. This is the ultimate truth that should guide people in finding God and establishing strong faith in their souls. Everyone nowadays is experiencing certain unpleasant discomfort, as most of the time they do not know who they are and what they are seeking in life. Belonging to various social groups and finding an interesting profession is not enough for an individual to experience happiness from realizing the true self. Faith in such cases often leads people to positive results as they understand what their heart desires and how to live life, to be satisfied and happy. Those people become like children, who are able to enjoy every ray of light and each drop of rain. Faith thus is of tremendous importance for humans, as it establishes peace in their hearts and allows enjoying life as it is, accepting all of its positive and negative

occurrences.

Finding peace with the self gives a person a light feeling of life and an acceptance of death. Such people are not afraid of neither of them. They are aware that life is just for a short period of time and they will have to become something else after it ends. Most people’s in the world greatest fear is death, but not for those who know what it is to be with God and to feel it’s omnipresent light everywhere. Assured of God’s help wherever they are makes them fearless and allows them to see things clearly without the dark shades of fear or shame or lust, feelings that are common for those who are lost. Faith is not simply an important part of our lives, it is crucial for our happiness and well being. We have to feel that we are not put here to suffer but to enjoy life and such sensation comes with faith.

Color Business Cards and Their Meaning

Author: Amy Johns  |  Category: beauty companies

One of the major aspects in business card printing is the color of the cards. Color business cards provide a way to customize your business card with your own personal look. For certain, business card printing companies are ready to print custom business cards with every color of the rainbow. A client is always right, so if you want to print business cards with your favorite color like electric pink, then why not?

Of course keep in mind that colors have their meanings. So your color business cards will not only give your pertinent details to someone, they will also display your personality and image. It is important to know how colors are perceived by people and how this will affect their perception of you. To help you choose a color for your business card, below is a list of the common colors of business cards and their perceived meanings. Choose well and choose wisely.

Standard White First of course, we have the standard white. Almost everybody uses white business cards. If you are just starting out in business card printing then white is probably the safest choice. A white business card is of course universally accepted, and all kinds of designs and images work with white. It is basically a blank canvass to work on really. Of course, be aware that since white is the standard color; it tends to be the most boring and mundane. Almost everybody has a white business card, how will you stand out?

Elegant Black Black is well, interesting. As the saying goes, you can pair any color with black. Since it contrasts almost any kind of color, a black business card definitely stands out in the sea of white and colored business cards. Black is a nice solid color to use and a lot of business card printing companies are equipped to print them. Add that with contrasting silver or gold lettering and you have a nice and elegant color business card.

The Red Card The red business card is of course something eye catching. If a woman in a red dress speaks of a subtle beauty and passion, then that is how a red business card operates. Of course not everyone can pull off a red business card. It depends on your personality and of course your industry. But there is no question of the impact of a red business card. It turns eyes and roller decks.

Subdued colors On the general side of color business cards, subdued and light colors are the best way to use color business cards without straying too much from a safe white business card. The subtle hint of color adds some personality to a business card and it doesn’t risk an intense reaction like a red or black business card. Of course, subdued and light colors still have a few qualities that are like standard white business cards. Unfortunately they can also run into the same pitfalls.

Bright Colors Brighter and fuller colors of course offer the complete impact of your chosen favorite color. Using these kinds of colors makes your business card more personal and it gives its own unique impact. A pink or neon green business card for example may gain looks. However this may also run the risk of looking too unprofessional. The safest way to use full bright colors is to only use one color at the most. If you use more color combinations, it might look cute, but it will also look more informal. This if course depends on your industry. If you are into a more casual line of work it may be fine, but for corporate types this might be frowned upon.

So have you chosen a color? Achieve a balance between your personality and your business environment and you should have the correct business card color to choose from. Be as eye catching and as decent looking as possible with color business cards.
